New Members: Larry Shivers from Penrose is our newest member. He is a friend of Gary Iovinella and he is AMA licensed. See Larry's photo on our web site. Ken Campbell from Texas will be returning to vacation in Colorado and will join us for flying.

Safety Issues:  Cloyce Mann reported that there has been more full size sailplane activity at the airport and that presents a problem for R/C flying since they are virtually silent. He suggested having a spotter to warn the R/C flyer of possible airspace problems.

Training Report: Our chief trainer and club president, Ed Vincent reported that Steve Stafford, Larry Shivers, and Ken Conway are all undergoing training. We look forward to them earning their wings.

Old Business:

Club History Project - Sonny was asked about his progress of compiling the club’s history. He estimates it will be completed in 2-3 months. The document will be issued to AMA as part of their history archive.

Flight Stand Covers New member Larry will donate four bags of concrete to the project.

Our Fun-Fly – On Saturday we will have a “free style” flying competition. We discussed how to have such an event and it was decided to have one judge and limit it to a two-minute acrobatic performance. Sonny volunteered to be the judge. The start time will be 9:00 AM. In case Sonny doesn't show up, Steve Stafford said he would judge the flying.

Weed Control – The sprayer and weed killer are in place in the storage building, ready for members to spray weeds. Please bring water to mix with the weed killer. See the club’s web site for a post by Mark Sullivan titled “Weed Control Program at the flying field”

Equipment Maintenance – Gary Iovinella and Larry Shivers repaired and rebuilt the mower and weed eater. They are again ready to be put to use.

New Business:

Health Report - Marlowe has been in contact with Bill Worthen, Sr. and his wife Joann and he gave an update on Bill's health. Bill is having some difficulties and the family called in Hospice for assistance. Joann thought she might bring Bill to tonight’s meeting, however it is understandable that they didn't make it. A couple of weeks ago, Bill did get in some flying with the help of his son Bill, Jr. He flew his trusty Hog Bipe.

Florence Pioneer Days – will be held on Saturday, Sept 21st. Sonny received an entry application for the parade. Cloyce proposed that we enter this event. After some discussion, the club decided to enter the parade. Marlowe volunteered the use of his J-3 Cub as a possible operating display. Dave Green also volunteered a plane. Ed established a parade committee consisting of Ed, Cloyce and Steve to get a float organized.

The meeting adjourned at 8:01 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Marlowe D. Cassetti, Secretary/Treasurer
