Old Business:
Balloon Classic
– There was a discussion of the event and our club’s participation which
was minimal. Ed Vincent and Mark Sullivan from our club and John Boren from Sky
Corral participated. Although they were able to launch balloons on both
Saturday and Sunday mornings the weather was not the greatest. Ed stated that next
year, he wants more people from our club actively working this event or we
should forget about our club’s participation.
New Business
Student
Training Qualification – There was a very long discussion as to what
qualification is required of a student to achieve on the way to awarding of
wings. It was revealed that the club has a training manual that spells out what
a trainee needs to accomplish under the supervision of an instructor. Ed will
distribute a copy of the training manual to all our current club instructors.
Public Outreach – Sonny made a
proposal that the club contribute Model Aviation magazine subscription to the
public library. After a short discussion it was decided not to do this. Bobby
stated that the club needs to have our meeting announcements in the local
papers. [Note: The club’s meeting
announcement now appears in both the print and online versions of the CaƱon City Shopper]
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM and the annual club
swap meet followed.
Respectfully submitted,
Marlowe D. Cassetti, Secretary/Treasurer
