Old Business:
Flight Stand Covers – Mike Ciganek questioned why this project hadn’t been started. We had some discussion as to the use of club funds to pay for the expenses with no specific recommendations on funding. It was suggested to just put up one section at a time to defer the full funding. Marlowe pointed out that Steve Anderson had already donated $100 to the club for this project and Marlowe also had pledged $50.
Indoor
Gymnasium Flying – Cloyce Mann has set up this winter schedule for indoor flying.
Starting in November and through the month of April, we will have access to the
Harrison School gymnasium on the 2nd and 4th Fridays from
7:00PM to 8:30PM. Cloyce requested that members, who want to fly in the gym,
pay Cloyce a one time $10.00 fee for the season. This is a departure from last
years when the club paid the full fee to the school.
New Business:
Election of Officers – Marlowe pointed out that at our next meeting in
November we have nominations of officers who will serve a two-year term and in
December we hold the election as stated in our bylaws. Bobby and Cloyce thought
the two-year term was a possible deterrent for people volunteering to hold an office.
There were no specific recommendations for revising the bylaws to change the
election process.
Veterans Home Request - At the club’s display at the EAA Fly-In, Brenda from
the McCandless Veterans Home asked us if we could demonstrate our models and
flying to some of their veterans.. They will bring them out to our field in their
van as they did at the EAA event. We discussed this at our meeting and it was
decided to try for a flying session on Saturday Oct. 12th 2013 starting
at 10:00AM. Dennis Sporing was assigned the task of getting with Brenda to
settle on the arrangements.
CAP/AMA Initiative – Ed Vincent has been involved with the new CAP/AMA joint
initiative to introduce model aviation to the youth members of the Civil Air
Patrol. As we discussed this at the meeting there was a concern that we night
not have enough trainers and instructors to give the CAP members training in
flying.
Xmas Party – The subject was brought up about having a club
Christmas party that included our wives. The consensus was having it in Annex
Building #2 (our normal meeting place), rather than at a local restaurant. We
did not set on a date but we settled on it being”pot luck” where everyone brings
food so that the club doesn’t have to spend any money. [Ed note: When we had
the Xmas party two years ago at the Good Thyme Cafe the party didn’t cost the
club anything]
The meeting adjourned at 8:01 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Marlowe D. Cassetti, Secretary/Treasurer
